5 Tips for Dining with Kids in Myrtle Beach
Family vacations are memory makers, that’s for sure. But let’s face it, kids have a different way of looking at fun than we do as adults. While we might view a long, leisurely meal as relaxing and enjoyable, kids often view the same experience as boring. So how can parents make the most of family dining while enjoying a fantastic meal during one of their many wonderful things to do in Myrtle Beach? Read on for some tips from Austin’s Ocean One staff.
Check out these 5 tips for the best dining experience with kids in Myrtle Beach
1. Practice at home first
This might sound a bit silly, but if you have young kids and this will be their first time dining out, why not try a practice run at home? Practice proper dinner manners by inviting stuffed animals or friends to a tea party or snack. Be sure to role play sitting still, using utensils properly, and waiting patiently.
2. Be thoughtful on your choice of restaurant
Restaurants with more activity are often better for young children. But, this doesn’t mean that you have to give up on that seafood restaurant that you have been longing to try. For example, the staff at Austin’s Ocean One is well-experienced with young children and has plenty of tricks up their sleeves to help make your meal an enjoyable experience.
3. Timing is everything
When dining with young children, you need to pay attention to their hunger clock. So while you might enjoy a meal later in the evening, you might need to stick to your kid’s schedule even while on vacation. So, plan in advance and make an early reservation at one of the Austin’s Restaurant Group locations to ensure that there is room for everyone in your party.
4. Order appetizers right away
Your child will likely be ready to eat as soon as you arrive at the table. So, be sure to take a peek at the menu as soon as you are seated and place an order for an appetizer right away. Not sure on the best appetizer for your child? Ask your server who would be more than happy to provide a recommendation based on experiences with previous young customers.
5. Spills happen
We were all children once, and we know that spills will happen. And, we have learned that when spills happen, remaining calm and taking the situation in stride is the best course of action. Linens can be washed and so can clothing. So, if a spill happens, relax. We’ll be happy to help you clean-up, and as we say, there is no use crying over a glass of spilled milk.
