Before we share a few of our favorite things to do, you might be interested to know that Pawley’s Island is one of the oldest beach vacation destinations in the Eastern United States. Named after Percival Pawley, who explored the land back in the 1500s, rice planters later established themselves within the region and made a fortune off the rich soil and perfect climate.
Of course, the rest is history because, over time, visitors to the area discovered the beach, accessible via the causeways to the north and south. And the beach along Pawleys Island remains unspoiled and a true delight for visitors of all ages. With so many things to do in Pawleys Island, you can’t go wrong.
1. Golfers will love the Steve Dresser Golf Academy
Whether you require a refresher lesson or are just starting to dabble in golf, you can attend anything from a one-hour class to a full golf clinic.
2. Sightseers will enjoy Atalaya Castle located nearby Pawleys Island
If getting out and about is more your cup of tea, then you might enjoy a visit to the Atalaya Castle. This beautiful piece of architecture was the winter home of Archer M. Huntington and his wife Anna Hyatt Huntington. Huntington was an industrialist and philanthropist, and his wife was an accomplished sculptor. The dwelling is located closer by in Huntington Beach State Park.
